The Good Shepherd
by Tracy Pepey
Cast: Matt Damon, Angelina Jolie, Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci, Alec Baldwin and Billy Crudup
Release date: December 22
Why you should see it: De Niro directs Damon as an extremely moral man whose values of honesty and discretion lead him to a career in the newly founded Central Intelligence Agency. Edward Wilson submerses himself in his work at the CIA and his ideals begin to turn to suspicion in the paranoia of the Cold War. As his dedication to the Agency increases, his distrust of everyone around him grows. In the end, Wilson is forced to sacrifice the things most important to him.
Box-office bottom line: This is Robert De Niro's first directorial outing since the amazing 1993 film, A Bronx Tale. With a cast of heavy hitters -- Angelina Jolie as Damon's wife -- we think this is a scorcher.
