Holiday Movie Guide 2007

Atonement (Limited Release)
Cast: Keira Knightley, James McAvoy, Romola Garai and Vanessa Redgrave
Release date: December 7
Why you should see it: A few years ago, Joe Wright brought a new version of Pride and Prejudice to the big screen during the holiday season. The same mood and feelings are set to erupt during this period piece beginning in 1930s England. Based on Ian McEwan's novel of the same name, Atonement focuses on the love between a rich young woman, Cecilia (Knightley) and the son of her family's servant (McAvoy). As things finally fall into place, Cecilia's younger sister rips the young lovers apart and changes everyone's lives irrevocably.
Box-office bottom line: Sometimes British movies are a box office smash (i.e. Bend it Like Beckham, Love Actually, etc). While the hot young talent should lend to a decent turn out, the story may be a bit too serious
