David Carr, Football

As quarterback for the newly formed NFL franchise the Houston Texans, David was sacked a record 76 times in his first season (2002). While this may seem a tad embarrassing, it has earned David the respect of his teammates and the fans because he keeps getting back up. Growing up in Bakersfield, California, the eldest of three boys, David dreamed of playing in the NFL. In April of 2002, the Houston Texans made him the first overall pick in the NFL draft, signing him for $47 million. He promptly bought a house for his parents, Rodger and Sheryl, and two brothers -- Darren, 19, and Derek, 11 -- in the Houston suburb of Sugar Land. He lives close by with his own family, wife Melody and two young sons, Austin and Tyler. He met his bride at a summer camp sponsored by their church and married her at the age of 19. So while he's off the marital market, we can still root for him to avoid getting sacked next season.
