Ashlee's new album is called I Am Me.
Last year, Ashlee Simpson's future as an entertainer was uncertain. After her lip-syncing debacle on Saturday Night Live ‑- and the resulting bad press ‑- it looked like the pop tart's bubble had burst.
But things have turned around for Jessica Simpson's little sister. This year she bought her first house, put out her first feature film, has a new hit album and recently vindicated herself by returning to SNL and singing her heart out ‑- live.
We recently caught up with Ashlee, who turned 21 in October, and hit her up with 21 questions. Here goes...
1. Was turning 21 everything you expected?
I still can't believe I'm 21. I had my birthday party in Vegas. It was great. I actually got to perform there ‑- I was onstage with the Pussycat Dolls.
2. Did you gamble?
I did, but I didn't really like it. And I even won! Maybe it's because I didn't really know what I was doing [laughs]. I was like: I'd rather spend this money on Louis Vuitton luggage.
3. Is it true you used Jessica's ID before you turned 21?
I did. Not much recently, but when I was 17 or 18 I'd try to use it. Sometimes people would say, "You're not Jessica Simpson." I'd answer: "Yeah I am." I think people were just being nice when they let me get away with it. And sometimes I didn't get away with it.
4. I find that hard to believe. Who turns away a celebrity?
There were a bunch of places that wouldn't let me in, and of course Vegas. You can't go anywhere in Vegas until you're 21. I couldn't even perform there before I turned 21. That's why it was fun to have my party there. It was like: Ha!
