Behind the Scenes: On the Set of We Are Marshall

Pajama PartyIt was an unseasonably cool May afternoon when I arrived at the Atlanta set of We Are Marshall. The soundstage was hidden away in a strip of industrial warehouses -- the only thing giving away that some of Hollywood's biggest talent were working inside was a sign at the end of the block that read simply, WAM. When I pulled up, I realized that, despite the obscure locale, this was definitely a Hollywood production because the first thing I noticed was the movie's leading man, Matthew McConaughey, pulling in at the same time. Emerging from his huge white Ford truck, complete with Texas license plates, Matthew appeared to be wearing... pajamas. His hair had spring to it -- as in, it stood straight up. And I watched him as he gallantly assisted his leading lady out of the monstrous vehicle. No, not Penelope Cruz -- who was his girlfriend at that time -- it was his part-dingo dog, Foxy. I thought, Whelp, I must be in the right place.
