Lawrence is back, trying to quash a national security threat and playing nanny to the suspect's children, while donning the fat lady drag costume. The female critics agree that the result is as pointless and groan-inducing as it sounds.

The New York Times's Anita Gates calls the flick an "inconsequential sequel for the undemanding moviegoer," while the Hollywood Reporter's Sheri Linden says, "If state-of-the-art cross-gender fat suits and drunken Chihuahuas were the stuff of comic genius, Big Momma's House 2 still wouldn't be very funny."
