Emily's Reasons Why Not
ABC, Mondays, 9pm, premieres Jan. 9
Heather Graham is the latest big-screen star to make the leap to TV. All bubbly and blonde, she's playing a savvy New York publishing executive who is unlucky in love and trying to change her situation by adhering to a simple principle: When she can think up five reasons why not to date a guy, she boots him and moves on. Think a clean version of Sex and the City, since this is network TV after all.

The Bachelor 8
ABC, Mondays, 10pm, premieres Jan. 9
Ah, Paris, the city of love. Can any girl help but fall head over heels? Can any guy? What about just one guy, Travis Stork, a 33-year-old doctor who is going to try to find his match among 25 sultry women. He's an emergency specialist, not a cardiologist, so we're not sure how much he knows about broken hearts.

The Jenna Elfman Show
CBS, Mondays, 9:30pm, premieres Jan. 23
Dharma, we missed you! Audiences who love Jenna Elfman's ditzy earth mama routine will enjoy her latest incarnation as a lawyer who is struggling to understand men. She's got daddy issues galore (who wouldn't with Dabney Coleman as the papa?), and that makes her dealings with guys her own age a little strained, despite how beautiful and witty she is. Along for the ride: Brady Smith, Lauren Tom and Hugh Bonneville. The show is based on a British comedy, so it could go the way of either The Office or Coupling ‑- but with Elfman's touch, we're betting on a big hit.

Fox, Mondays, 9pm, premieres Jan. 15
When we last left Jack (Kiefer Sutherland) at the end of season four, a missile was speeding toward doom, and he was tied up trying to get Mandy (Mia Kirschner) to cut a deal for her immunity if she gave up the really bad guys. After an eventful day, Jack headed off into the sunset ‑- well, more like sunrise, as the show ended at the 7am hour ‑- with a new identity. People who caught up on the series with the DVD set got a sneak preview, which is a kind of interim update, 14 months after the last action and five months before the show will pick up at the premiere. Look for Sean Astin, Jean Smart, Peter Weller, JoBeth Williams and Julian Sands to show up in various roles in the coming months.

Jake in Progress
ABC, Mondays, 9:30pm, premieres Jan. 9
How much progress will Jake (John Stamos) make this season? Last year, we were introduced to this charming publicist, who is trying to make his way in New York, plus his pregnant boss (Wendie Malick) and their temp (Julie Bowen) who refused to date him. By the end of the spring episode arc, the temp had fallen prey to Jake's wiles, and he was attempting to woo her. Will it last? Only time will tell.

Skating with Celebrities
Fox, Mondays, 8pm, premieres Jan. 18
And you thought those dancing and singing stars had tough challenges in front of them. Now Fox is pairing people like Todd Bridges, Deborah Gibson, Kristy Swanson, Dave Coulier and Jillian Barberie with professional skaters like Nancy Kerrigan and Bruce Jenner for our amusement. If only the commentary on these shows were more like the original Iron Chef! This one deserves some snarkiness.
