Rock School's in Session

Cover FilmIn the middle of filming, the team learned about another movie coming out that sounded similar to their story: the Jack Black comedy The School of Rock, directed by Richard Linklater. Like the irrepressible real-life Green, the unlikely fictional teacher talked rock in a big way, rolled on the floor, screamed, berated and generally acted in a way that no school district would sanction ‑- but that worked wonders with the kids. "It's a great homage and an honor," Green says sarcastically, before pointing out that his story was well known, even though nobody from the movie studio asked for his participation. A crew from VH1 ‑- owned by the same company that made the feature film ‑- had even mysteriously been by the school to film a segment before School of Rock started production. And Green has owned the URL www.schoolofrock.com since he went into business.
