"John was such a proponent of life springing up through the cracks in the sidewalk, like a flower popping up, and he would always point that out to her, how life goes on and continues. It's such a hard lesson and a huge way to learn it for her, but she's learning it on such a stark but beautiful level that it was the most wonderful day when she was born for her father and now it's the anniversary of the day he died."
