"With everything that our family went through, I talked to [John's son] Jason a lot. He was working on Joan of Arcadia when John died. And as much as I know it was hard for him to go to work, the family that developed on that show, and the tenderness with which they created a safe place for him to go and work in and keep being a human being and go on with life, really inspired me. I really talked to him about it ‑- 'Is it torture? Are you okay?' They really took care of him."
