The Ballad of Jack and Rose is a movie about a dad, but that doesn't mean it's a patriarchal effort. Almost every key creative position on the other side of the camera was filled by a woman, starting with director Rebecca Miller and including the producers, the cinematographer, the editor and the casting director. Why such a matriarchy?
