Where are the children now? Almost all of them are in school and doing well, says Briski. She is using screenings of the film to raise money for her foundation, Kids with Cameras, to start classes in other parts of the world, including Haiti, Jerusalem and Cairo. She is also working to build a school of leadership and the arts in Calcutta to help even more children there. Having a platform at the Academy Awards will surely help, but she's not sure yet if any of her students will be able to join her on the red carpet. "There's the whole visa saga," she sighs.
